YouTube Premium subscribers get a sleep timer

Have you ever fallen asleep watching a YouTube video and woken up a few hours later to find a history full of videos autoplaying one after the other? Then you probably need a sleep timer, and luckily, YouTube now offers just that.

But this feature is limited to YouTube Premium subscribers. And it’s an experimental test feature. And, perhaps most annoyingly, the test only lasts until September 2nd. After that, the feature could be integrated into YouTube itself, getting rid of its experimental training wheels, or it could be gone forever, there’s no telling at this point.

YouTube Premium subscribers get a sleep timer

If you're a Premium subscriber and want to try out the sleep timer, head over to this page and enable it. Once you've done that, when you open YouTube on your phone or desktop, you can go to the settings menu while playing a video to set the sleep timer to the desired interval after which playback should stop. It's that simple. Let's hope this isn't a one-off experiment and that it'll continue.
