Whether you're interested in a new phone or tablet this back-to-school shopping season, today seems like the perfect time for OnePlus fans to spend a little money… with Prime memberships. In addition to the OnePlus Open and OnePlus 12R handsets, the iPad-rivaling OnePlus Pad just scored a hefty and unexpected Amazon discount, well ahead of the e-commerce giant's second round of Prime Day deals this year.
While no one can predict the future (except maybe Evan Blass or Mark Gurman), we see no reason to wait until October if you're looking for an Android tablet with a decidedly premium design, respectable specs, and a reasonable price.
Normally available for $479.99 with no strings attached, the first generation OnePlus Pad is currently available at a cool $110 discount (or 23 percent) with no trade-in or anything. You must be an Amazon Prime subscriber to take advantage of this great new deal, which happens to be similar to last summer's Prime Day deal and beats all other promotions from the last year or so.
Powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, the OnePlus Pad, released in spring 2023, was recently replaced by an improved successor with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC under the hood (among other things). Of course, the OnePlus Pad 2 is significantly more expensive than its predecessor, which means that its predecessor is still one of the best tablets you can buy for under $400 right now.
This upper-middle-range device is bigger and bolder than Apple's “regular” iPad 9 and iPad 10. It packs 8GB of RAM and an almost surprisingly large 9,510mAh battery with lightning-fast 67W charging capability in a razor-thin and remarkably light aluminum and glass chassis.
The 11.61-inch LCD screen is definitely no slouch either, with a resolution of 2800 x 2000 pixels and a silky-smooth refresh rate of 144 Hz. The OnePlus Pad's content streaming capabilities are further enhanced by a four-speaker sound system enriched with Dolby Atmos technology. In short, the value for money doesn't seem to be matched or even surpassed by any of the best iPads or Samsung Galaxy Tabs on the market.
