It was a big day for Pixel fans when Google introduced the Pixel 9. Pixel 9 ProPixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3, and Pixel Buds Pro 2. The Made by Google event showcased many new Google AI features that required “help” from Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler and actress/writer Keke Palmer. Google decided to hold the presentation live, which backfired when it came to demonstrating Gemini as a virtual assistant.

The goal was for host Dave Citon to snap a photo of a Sabrina Carpenter concert poster using a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and ask Gemini Advanced to check the user's calendar to see if they were available when Carpenter was playing in San Francisco. But Gemini Advanced didn't respond not once, but twice, so Dave had to switch to a backup phone, and luckily it worked the third time. The rest of the event seemed to go off without a hitch.
The first video we show you is a one-minute ad for the Pixels 9. The ad is titled “The Magic is Back” and shows off some useful AI features you never had on your old smartphone. At one point, Google even tries to outdo Siri and the iPhone. You'll likely see this ad during primetime TV, on streaming platforms, and while watching MLB and NFL preseason games.
The next video presents the Pixel 9 Pro and the Pixel 9 Pro. Of course, the video shows Gemini and the things AI can do for you on your phone. As well as drawing a flamingo in the clouds wearing a punk rock-style top hat, Gemini can also create an out of office (OOO) message to send to clients or the boss, in the style of the Bard (you might know him as William Shakespeare), take a photo of the leftover food in the fridge, and suggest a quick meal you can whip up quickly.
After watching this video, you may be wondering Pixel 9 Pro or the Pixel 9 Pro.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold also features Gemini on the device and with the 8-inch internal display, you can brainstorm, create, collect data and multi-task at the same time. We don't need to tell you that Gemini works with the large internal display to help you get things done.
Google is going all-in on Gemini across all of Android, not just the Pixel line. Check out this promo that confirms that the days of Google Assistant are over and we're now in the Gemini era.
The next two videos present the PixelWatch 3 and the Pixel Buds Pro 2. There is a third video that focuses on a fantastic new feature of the Pixel Watch, Loss of Pulse Detection. The PixelWatch 3 has a sensor that detects the user's pulse. And if no pulse can be detected, the watch calls the emergency services to get help. This is important because most cases of loss of pulse are without help from anyone nearby, which means that the outcome of such events is usually not good. That is why the PixelWatch 3 will save lives.
The last video is a replay of the entire Made by Google event in case you missed it the first time.
