Xiaomi 15 Ultra to reportedly feature 200MP periscope telephoto lens again

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra could arrive earlier than its predecessors, and it is rumored to pack a significant upgrade over the 14 Ultra: a 200MP periscope telephoto lens.

Now, a new report “confirms” this information, as much as any unverified rumor can. The new camera will feature a 10x magnification option in the viewfinder, and this level of magnification will be achieved through a combination of optical zoom and in-sensor zoom.

Xiaomi may or may not market this product as “lossless,” and we're not going to debate the accuracy of the term. We'd rather just get excited about the quality of the zoomed-in shots we should be able to get with Xiaomi's upcoming Ultra.

A 200MP periscope telephoto lens was introduced in May by the vivo X100 Ultra, and now it seems Xiaomi liked the innovation so much that it's ready to follow suit.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. Its main camera will use an upgraded version of the Sony LYT-900 sensor, claims today's rumor, and this will bring better low-light performance compared to that of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

There will also be a 4K cinematic video mode, higher-resolution slow-motion video, and an improved selfie camera – a 50MP sensor, apparently.
