WhatsApp has been busy adding new features left and right recently, and it's not going to stop anytime soon. Today, a new beta version of the app was released for Android (2.24.17.19), and it brings with it nascent support for chat themes.
As you can see in the screenshot below, the feature is still in the early stages of development, but it is coming and will allow you to choose a chat theme that will change the message color and chat background.
If you've ever used Facebook Messenger, you pretty much know what to expect, as the app has been offering chat threads for years. WhatsApp, like in many other areas, is catching up.
If you want to test WhatsApp beta features on Android, you need to sign up for the beta, which you can sign up for from its listing on the Play Store. However, note that the signup is not open at all times.
Given how long it usually takes for new WhatsApp features to move from beta to stable, we're guessing that chat themes will be available to everyone towards the end of the year.
