Last week, we asked you for your opinion on the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. It was already available in the UK and has since been launched in India as well. Let’s see how the survey went.
The Plus model costs £50 more for a 12/256GB unit in the UK and ₹2,000 more in India for an 8/256GB unit. And that's the difference if you look at the MSRP, the regular 2a phone has been around for a while and gets discounts quite often, making the price gap even bigger.
It’s no surprise, then, that many feel the new phone is overpriced for what it offers. There’s been no chipset change to deliver better performance, but the chip will have to prove itself in testing. The company has also upgraded the selfie camera to a 50MP unit that can capture 4K video. That’s another unknown – testing could really tip the scales of opinion on this phone.
Nothing is a young company that is still building its distribution network. This means that some regions are being left behind – even a major market like the US is only benefiting from a “beta” program with spotty carrier support. This is not a major problem yet, but it will become a pressing issue if Nothing ignores it.
For the majority of voters surveyed, the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is not the best mid-ranger they can spend their money on – even the regular Nothing Phone (2a) is a better deal, as are all the brands that compete in this segment.
