Vivo has introduced a new budget smartphone in China under its Y-series smartphones. The new device is called Vivo Y36c and it comes with an interesting price tag of CNY 899. It is around $126 in direct conversion and brings the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 SoC. The phone is available in three different color variants: Moon Shadow Black, Distant Mountain Green, and Diamond Purple.

Vivo, as usual, has cut some corners on this smartphone to make the price attractive. For instance, it has the traditional budget design with a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. There is also a thick chin when compared to the side frames. However, the phone has a flat design for the frame, which is a recurring trend in the industry. There is a rectangular cutout on the back of the phone for the dual camera holes. According to the spec sheet, the phone has an overall thickness of 8.53″ and weighs just 185 grams.

Speaking of cameras, the Vivo Y36c comes with a 50MP primary camera on the rear, there’s no mention of a secondary camera but we believe it’s a simple depth sensor. The front camera is a modest 5MP shooter for selfies and video calling. The phone’s display is a 6.56-inch 90Hz LCD unit with a peak brightness of 840nits. It also comes with low blue light eye protection certification.
Under the hood, the device carries the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which is a mid-range offering with a 6nm architecture. It has 2 x ARM Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4GHz and 6 x ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G57 MC2. It is a mid-range CPU, but it is sufficient for playing casual games and daily app usage. The phone gets power from a 5,000mAh battery. It also comes with an IP54 dust and water resistance rating.
