American fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger has parted ways with his “most prized possession,” his luxury megayacht Flag. The 204-foot (62.3-meter) Feadship has been sold by Merle Wood & Associates in a deal with Torrance Yachts. It is unclear how much the yacht’s ownership change was worth, but the latest asking price was €39,500,000 (nearly $44,000,000).
For many owners, a luxury superyacht is like a delicate treasure, and they keep it for decades. However, even the insanely rich get tired of their toys at some point. Some decide to part with their pleasure craft because it is too expensive to maintain, while others will probably look to upgrade to a larger and even more luxurious boat or perhaps invest their money in something else.
We don't know what the case is in this case, but Tommy Hilfiger admitted in an interview a few years ago that owning a superyacht was “how to run a business,” an expensive one. But in another interview, he also suggested that he would like to build a bigger boat for his family. “When you have that many guests, you need a little more space,” he said. “If I get the right price, I'll sell it and maybe build something bigger.“He probably got the right price.
Delivered in 2000, Flag was built by Feadship and boasts exterior design and naval architecture by De Voogt Naval Architects. Previously known as Faith, she was owned by Lawrence Stroll, Executive Chairman of Aston Martin. Tommy Hilfiger purchased her from him in 2017 and has used her as his summer home in recent years, cruising the Mediterranean from Saint-Tropez to Portofino, Sardinia and Capri.

After purchasing the yacht, the designer renamed it Flag and didn’t hesitate to give it his own personal touch. He enlisted Chahan Minassian, Ralph Lauren’s creative director and the vessel’s original interior designer, to redesign the interior and infuse it with the color scheme of the American flag and Hilfiger’s iconic logo.
Constructed from steel and aluminium, Flag is one of Feadship’s most recognisable designs. She boasts sleek exterior lines and a timeless interior dominated by elegant light wood panelling, soft cream carpets, leather upholstery and natural stone floors.
With a generous interior volume of 1,078 GT, Flag offers a flexible seven-cabin layout and, despite being over twenty years old, incorporates several modern features, such as motorized doors, retractable TVs and an elevator serving all decks.
Over the years, a host of guests as famous as Flag’s owner have come aboard, including A$AP Rocky, Bella Hadid, Lewis Hamilton and Kendall Jenner. These A-list guests have been able to indulge in the luxury of spacious social spaces, a large pool on the sundeck, a fully equipped gym on the main deck, a Jacuzzi, a barbecue, a pizza oven and more. For fun on the water, guests on board have access to a water slide, a diving board, a splash park, kayaks, water skis, two jet skis and fishing and snorkeling equipment.
