The Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe-based Brabus 900 Rocket R, worth nearly $510,000, goes head to head with a $420,000 Brabus 900 Superblack GLS and a $458,000 (and change) Brabus 900 Superblack G 63. In total, they cost 1,090,000 British pounds, or about $1,400,000 US. For our amusement, they decided to do some 1/4-mile drag racing.
Without getting into the details of who makes more horsepower and more wheel torque, as you might expect, the 1-of-25 Brabus 900 Rocket R that started life as a Porsche 911 Turbo S won by a landslide, completing the quarter mile in 10 seconds flat. At the wheel was Mat Watson of the British YouTube channel “carwow.”
The Brabus 900 Superblack, based on the Mercedes-AMG GLS63 4MATIC+ Off-roadcame in second with 11.3 seconds on the clock. Finally, what was once a “simple” Mercedes-AMG G 63, became a Brabus 900 Superblack G63 and now climbed onto the third podium after a run of 11.5 seconds.
A few 1/2 mile races followed shortly after, but as you may have guessed, the Porsche Brabus 1 of 25 won over and over again. Now let's see what kind of engineering goes into these magical nightmare creatures.
Typically, the $230,400 Porsche 911 Turbo S packs a 3.8-liter engine that’s good for 640 hp (640 PS) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. But Brabus has made a few tweaks and additions here and there, including two new high-performance turbochargers. So, the 1-of-25 Brabus 900 Rocket R makes 888 hp (900 metric PS) and 737.5 lb-ft or 1,000 Nm of torque.
Its 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission sends that insane power to all four corners. Of course, it is the lightest of the bunch, at 3,615 lbs or 1,640 kg. This model costs 400,000 GBP (British pounds), or the equivalent of $510,000.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 SUV costs $149,500 (MSRP) and features a handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with hybrid assistance, producing 603 hp and 627 lb-ft, or 850 Nm.
The much-improved Brabus 900 Superblack version costs 330,000 GBP or 420,155 USD. It has a 4.5-liter engine, two new turbochargers and a host of other technical wizardry that catapults the standard output to 888 hp (900 ps) and 922 lb-ft or 1,250 Nm of torque.
However, to keep the transmission and all-wheel drive systems intact for a long time, torque has been electronically limited to 774 lb-ft or 1,050 Nm. This mammoth weighs 2,800 kilograms or a whopping 6,393 pounds, which is 2,557 pounds or 1,160 kilograms more than the 900 Rocket R.
Finally, the legendary G-Wagon starts at around $190,000 in the US and has a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 577 hp (585 ps) and 627 lb-ft or 850 Nm of torque. The Brabus 900 Superblack version makes the same power figures as its AMG GLS 63 sibling because they both share the same engine. It’s 220 lb or 100 kg heavier than the GLS, at 5,952 lb or 2,700 kilograms. This thing starts at 360,000 British pounds, equivalent to $458,352.
