This condo has a Chevy Impala revolving door in the bedroom, the license plate reads “divorce”

When you grow up dreaming of a car, things won't change when you grow up. And this apartment with a Chevy Impala planted in the center of a bedroom on a rotating platform is proof of that. The luxury apartment is for sale in Auckland, New Zealand.

The luxury condo is located in the 155-meter-high Metropolis tower. It could be labeled as the perfect home for a bachelor, considering the car in the bedroom. But that's just one of the four bedrooms, a number that makes it the perfect family home. If it weren't for the nightclub design…

It is a 300 square meter house with walls and floors made of marble and onyx imported from Turkey. Everything revolves around the concept of Gotham City, so Batman could move in at any time if he decided he could live in Auckland. There are details waiting for him to feel at home: one of the walls shows the Batman symbol and the words “Gotham City”. The condo took years to complete.

The owner and his longtime partner moved out in 2016 and are now selling the property. They declined to be named for privacy reasons. They purchased the property for just over $3 million from tech billionaire Charles Shrimpton more than a decade ago. The renovation began by stripping the apartment down to its concrete shell before decorating it to their taste.

It is the only house in the country with a revolving car that doubles as a bed. Realtors say that despite being in the business for 15 years, they have never seen anything like it.

With insane engineering costs, the condo features hidden doors, plumbing vents, and TVs that drop from the ceiling. However, the condo’s main attraction is the Chevy Impala, which has the word “Divorce3” on its license plate. So, that’s a pretty big clue as to why this condo is on the market right now. We can’t help but wonder which cars had the “Divorce1” and “Divorce2” plates.

The Chevrolet had to be airlifted to the penthouse by a helicopter the owner had hired directly from Australia. No helicopter in New Zealand was powerful enough to transport the car to the condo. Traffic in the surrounding area was limited for the move.

The seller told local media that it was a very adrenaline-filled event. At one point the pilot had his leg out of the door and the whole helicopter was shaking; it was jumping up and down..”

Viewings are by appointment only and are reserved for those who can afford to buy a $10 million condo, whether they are expats or locals. The price also includes the Chevy Impala bed.
