The Venture Van from 27North combines strength and durability with luxurious comfort.

Boondocking, overlanding, and going off the grid are the latest trends in RV travel, favored by many who want to immerse themselves in nature. To fully enjoy this type of adventurous, self-contained camping without sacrificing comfort or style, you need a capable and well-equipped adventure vehicle.

27North, a Missouri-based RV company that specializes in building custom expedition trucks and adventure vans, is ready to make your camping dreams a reality with its latest 2024 Venture Van. Built for outdoor enthusiasts who want to venture off the beaten path, this compact home on wheels combines off-road capability and durability with the comfort and convenience of a five-star vacation home.

The team at 27North is known for building tough-as-nails expedition vehicles that are ready to conquer roads and trails in comfort and luxury, so we expect this camper van to deliver the same capabilities. Built on a 170″ Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis with all-wheel drive and a high-output 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel engine, the Venture Van is truly equipped for any “adventure” into uncharted territory. It's a testament to the team's exceptional craftsmanship and commitment to quality and innovation, and will allow customers to explore the outdoors in a safe and engaging way.

From the exterior design and equipment, this camper van benefits from a host of upgrades that make it rugged and ready for adventure. A quick glance reveals a host of extras, like the ever-popular Backwoods bumper with fog lights, LED bar, and a 12,000-pound winch up front, steel running boards, a Fiamma awning, and a Backwoods DRIFTR roof rack to store your gear. In the back, you’ll discover a roof access ladder, a Backwoods rear bumper with backup lights, a toolbox, and a spare tire carrier.

The Sprinter comes with a set of Black Rhino off-road wheels wrapped in Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires. Further enhancing its off-road capabilities is a full suspension lift and brace that ensures a smooth ride on any terrain.

A standout feature of this van is the impressive array of exterior lighting options ready to illuminate your path. In addition to the aforementioned 20″ LED light bar on the front bumper, there are three 3-POD LED lights on the roof rack and a powerful 50″ LED light bar up front. Coupled with a state-of-the-art 360-degree camera, you can rest assured that you'll never miss a moment of your adventure.

The interior, meanwhile, is well laid out and appropriately equipped with luxury amenities to ensure an unparalleled travel experience. While most van conversions focus on creating interiors that exude warmth and homeliness, this conversion puts functionality front and center. It boasts a rather industrial aesthetic, highlighted by aluminum wall panels, waterproof vinyl flooring, and a neutral color palette of black, white, and gray. However, the use of premium materials and quality appliances make it feel luxurious, while birch furniture and leather upholstery add some warmth and coziness to the space.

The van has an open floor plan, meaning there is no solid partition between the driver's cab and the living space. This configuration increases the space inside the van and adds functionality, as the high-quality upholstered seats are mounted on swivel supports and are accompanied by an adjustable Lagoon table to create a nice seating/dining area in the front.

Behind the driver's seat, you'll find a compact yet very practical kitchen. It features custom cabinetry with an all-wood finish and premium locking hardware, a beautiful solid bamboo worktop, and modern appliances, ranging from a microwave and two-burner induction hob to a marine-grade Isotherm fridge/freezer. There's plenty of cupboard space below and above the worktop for your storage needs. LED skirting and cabinet lighting and dimmable LED ceiling lights create the perfect ambiance inside the van.

Venturing deeper into the van, you’ll discover a convertible dinette with face-to-face benches boasting premium leather cushions and not one, but two adjustable Lagoon tables. This is a multifunctional setup that serves as a pleasant dining and lounging spot for four during the day and converts into a comfortable full-width bed at night.

A series of wall units and a full-height storage unit at the rear provide plenty of space for personal belongings. Another highlight in the lounge/sleeping area is the 24″ Smart TV on a swivel stand for entertainment on your camping trips.

Next to the dinette is the main control center that allows you to monitor and control the van's utility systems, lights, awning, and more. Below is more storage, plus a rod holder for two fishing rods.

The rear of the van is divided between the bathroom and garage space. The wet room boasts a black and white aesthetic, with beautiful subway-style wall panels, and is accessed via a lightweight, self-cleaning door. It incorporates a shower and a Thetford cassette swivel toilet.

The attached garage is huge and offers space for a lot of cargo. It is roomy enough to carry two bicycles. Additionally, the rear doors have solid wood panels, which give you the ability to attach various items.

In addition to comfort, this is a van built for remote self-sufficiency, so it features 525 watts of solar power, a Lithionics BOSS 302 battery pack that provides 930 Ah of battery life, and a reliable Victron inverter and control system. A 30-gallon fresh water tank and Bosch on-demand water heater are housed under one of the dinette benches, while a 12V air conditioner ensures you stay cool on hot days.

The van also features 6.5” Wet Sounds speakers, inside/outside Bluetooth stereo, built-in Wi-Fi and GPS navigation.

The 27North Venture Van is definitely a high-end adventure vehicle, built for performance and luxury on the road, so expect a high price if you want a new one. The good news is that the company is selling its demo model, giving potential buyers a rare opportunity to purchase it at a fraction of the cost. The lightly used unit shown here is available for $197,500 via Vanlife Trader.
