The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Slim will actually be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition

Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold Slim, also known as the Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim, Galaxy Z Fold Ultra, and Galaxy Z Fold6 Ultra, will apparently not use any of those names when it goes official. It will instead be called the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition.

This information comes from legendary leaker Evan Blass, who also revealed that the device will have a 6.5-inch outer display, an 8-inch inner display, and that it will be 4.9mm thick when unfolded and 10.6mm thick when folded.

This will make it much more competitive against the Honor Magic V3 and Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, the former being 4.35mm thick when open and 9.2mm when closed, the latter 4.6mm/9.5mm, respectively. Of course, Samsung isn't matching either of those models, but it's getting much closer with the Fold Special Edition than it ever has with a non-Special Edition Fold, including the latest Z Fold6.

And now for the bad news. According to several previous rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold special edition will only be available in Korea and China. This doesn’t make sense to us either, so let’s hope it doesn’t happen. We’ll have to wait and see what happens. The Fold special edition is rumored to launch in September in Korea and October in China.
