Think about it. Ford’s namesake brand just this month unveiled the Ford Pro-powered 2025 Ford Police Interceptor Utility, began shipping the refreshed Ford Explorer, and announced a restyled 2025 Maverick compact unibody pickup with hybrid all-wheel drive and an all-new Maverick Lobo trim level with performance upgrades for street-truck enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, the only notable thing Lincoln has done since announcing the all-new Nautilus in March is to pair the Ford Explorer's sales launch with its related 2025 Lincoln Aviator, since both are built at the same plant, Chicago Assembly in Illinois. Well, the rumor mill doesn't like automakers who like to chill, so here's Oscar Vargas, the virtual artist better known as wb.artista20 on social media, who keeps dreaming of things for automotive that can only be made by OEMs if the heads of the subsidiaries approve them.
More specifically, the pixel master is considering reviving the Lincoln Mark series of personal luxury cars, which began life as the Lincoln Continental Mark II in 1956. The original went on hiatus in 1960, but was revived in 1969 and continued as a series for six generations until 1998. For much of its life, it was offered as a two-door coupe, but there were also convertible models (from 1958 to 1960) and four-door sedans (1958-1960 and 1980-1983).
Well, the CGI expert recalled how the Lincoln Continental Mark VII was downsized upon its introduction in 1984, and since it shared the Fox platform with the Ford Mustang 'Fox Body', he decided to give it another go, this time with the help of the current seventh-generation 2024 Ford Mustang S650. As such, we encounter his 3D concept of a potential revival of the series, titled the Lincoln Mark IX, of course, and based on the Mustang GT with the 5.0-liter Coyote V8.
Frankly, that’s not a bad idea, given that the Ford lineup has the $60,000 Dark Horse and then jumps up to $325 with the flagship 800-hp Ford Mustang GTD, so there’s plenty of room between them. As such, Lincoln could rework the S650 into a more flamboyant and wider two-door Mark IX coupe, with a bit more luxury and a lot more oomph than a Mustang GT or Dark Horse. So, what do you think? Is it feasible or not?
