Cadillac is enjoying a quiet renaissance among GM enthusiasts thanks to stellar results both at home in America and in the all-important China region. In fact, last year, the company counted the CT5 midsize executive sedan as its best-selling model, outselling crossover SUVs. That’s a big reason why the model has already been refreshed for the 2025 model year, complete with its V-Series and Blackwing performance options.
GM’s premium brand isn’t sitting idle in the all-electric department either: Soon, they’ll have the 2025 Optiq, 2024 Lyriq, 2026 Vistiq, and 2025 Escalade IQ alongside the flagship Celestiq. Plus, word on the street is that a pair of new all-electric sedans based on the upcoming Ultium+ platform are also in the works, though no one can say for sure whether those will be China-only or America-only.
In any case, through the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, the imaginary realm of digital content creators for cars has already made a decision favorable to the domestic market. More precisely, the rumor mill believes that the CT4 will not have a new generation and, most likely, Cadillac will eventually renew it and let it “die in peace” due to natural causes of low sales. The CT5, on the other hand, certainly deserves an all-electric counterpart.
Also, Vince Burlapp (aka appburlap on social media or at burlappcar.com), a prolific virtual artist who loves to dream up all the latest models in the vast automotive realm, also seems to think that Cadillac could easily bring the larger CT6 full-size sedan back to the local U.S. market, just as it allowed it to endure in China with a fresh second generation introduced in 2023. For America, however, the pixel maestro wants to inject a lot more personality and poise, with the help of his unofficial, hypothetical design project.
Of course, this future rebirth of the Cadillac CT6 for America would be part of the roster of sedans in the works based on the future updated Ultium+ architecture. Hopefully, by then, they'll have ironed out the teething problems that have held back the batch of BEV3 models like the Caddy Lyriq or the Chevy Blazer. Electric vehicle from invading the US auto market to hunting down prey like Tesla.
So what do you think? Would you root for the Cadillac CT6 to return as a member of the IQ dynasty with “BEV4” underpinnings and Ultium+ gadgets, trying to make it better than a Tesla Model S or Lucid Air, among others?
