The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV Loses All Camouflage, Even If Only Digitally

After successfully replacing the AMG versions of the retired CLS (insert sad face here), the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe is now in line for a significant facelift. The three-pointed star brand is preparing an entirely new generation, and since tradition doesn’t mean much to Mercedes these days, it’ll be an EV.

Yes, you read that right, the successor to the current Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe will be a battery-electric vehicle. Our spy photographers recently caught a prototype outdoors, completely wrapped in camo and featuring fake plastic cladding. This was an early test, and some of the visuals were likely not production-ready components.

However, it was interesting to preview this model and find out that it will still be a four-door coupe. It is likely that the company will name it Mercedes-AMG GT 4 doors Electric vehicleor so the word goes, anyway. The vehicle should still have a Panamericana, albeit a closed one, since there is no longer a lump of internal combustion behind it. On its sides was a set of arrow-shaped headlights

Mercedes-AMG’s GT 4-Door EV also had flush-mounted door handles for a sleeker profile. As you’d expect from a completely silent, performance-oriented model with a sporty nature, it also had muscular shoulders. The rear bumper and diffuser were likely temporary, and the same can be said for the taillights. We wouldn’t bet those wheels would make it to the final production model, although we could be wrong, as they were an aerodynamic approach, after all.

This model appears to be a four-door sedan, which means it doesn’t have a tailgate that opens into the cargo area that would allow users to carry larger gear. The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV is expected to feature a high-performance battery pack, axial-flux motor technology, and yet-undisclosed horsepower and torque from the various available powertrains that we’ll learn about in the coming months, at least in theory.

We recently saw an unofficial take on the car's design, and while Kolesa's renders are also on the unofficial side of things (obviously), they're much more realistic. The pixel manipulator took his time digitally peeling away the camouflage and filling in the gaps with a healthy dose of “trust us, bro.” We're not particularly fans of the vehicle's front fascia, with its large headlights, thin strip of lights, and large grille positioned lower down.

The rear light signature makes it look like a Korean model (not to mention names) and the proportions on the sides are pretty good. Hopefully the real thing will have a different front and rear, but we should find out the answer to that question presumably next year. That's when the all-new (and first ever) Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV is rumored to debut.
