The 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 Shows Off Its New Starry Eyes in Realistic Digital Illustrations

Mercedes isn’t quite ready to launch the fourth-generation GLS. It’s probably waiting to see if it would be a good idea to stick with the ICE recipe or launch it with EV power only, or maybe a mix of both. So, it’s preparing a second mid-cycle refresh of its flagship crossover.

The next model is believed to be due late next year and will likely be a 2026 model year in the New World. Spy shots and realistic renderings have revealed new features, such as those star-shaped headlights that look great on any modern Mercedes, new bumpers on both ends, revised taillights, and perhaps some tweaks to the interior.

Not only the regular Mercedes-Benz GLS is getting a second facelift, but also the Maybach model, the German carmaker's alternative to the Bentley Bentayga and the Rolls-Royce Cullinan. The Mercedes-AMG The sporty GLS 63 variant will also get a further facelift mid-cycle and will, to a certain extent, mirror the look of the standard Benz model.

The 2026 (or maybe 2027?) Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is currently undergoing testing, and once it starts shedding its fake (camouflage) skin, it will likely look a lot like these renderings by Kolesa. Compared to the current GLS 63, the upcoming one will have a wider front grille that will directly touch the new headlights. The main clusters have a star-shaped daytime light signature. Further down, it will get a new bumper with revised air intakes.

We expect to see more stars incorporated into the rear light units, albeit with a different motif. The tailgate will still house the recess for the license plate holder. The rear bumper should also be new, as will the diffuser which will still feature cutouts for the quad exhaust tips on each side of the four fins. It is possible that this model will also get new exterior color options and additional (or new) wheels, and AMG logos will complete the design.

With its dual-screen layout, the cabin of the current Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 is already modern. However, the German company will probably pay more attention to the two displays. It is also possible that the air vents, steering wheel and center console could be part of the revisions, along with the trim and upholstery, although these are our two cents and should be taken accordingly.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine should be maintained with little or no intervention. In the current GLS 63, it is good for 603 hp (612 ps/450 kW) and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque. The model reaches a top speed of 174 mph (280 km/h) and takes 4.2 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h). We should learn more about the 2026 GLS 63 in the coming weeks/months, once the testing phase is well underway. However, for the most part, it should look something like the one in these renderings.
