Tesla is slowly losing ground in sales at home, in the United States, and in other important places like the Old Continent: they are down 8% in the United States and 13% in Europe after the first six months of the year. But why, when they have some of the coolest (Cybertruck) or most powerful (Plaid) vehicles on the planet?

Well, first of all, the bar was set very high: last year they achieved record results and the Tesla Model Y was even the best-selling vehicle in the world, according to some sources. However, data collected by JATO Dynamics shows that 2024 is not at all positive, both at home and abroad in Europe.

It's not the Electric vehicle slowdown that causes this – although enthusiasm is not as high as before due to the decline in incentives and the automakers' comeback plans, overall demand has increased slightly in both regions as new, competitive models introduced on both sides of the great ocean (aka the Atlantic Ocean) have attracted new buyers.

Meanwhile, Tesla is currently caught between a rock and a hard place: The redesigned Model 3 “Highland” was a success, but those who wanted the sedan in their garage or driveway have already bought or leased it. Meanwhile, most potential buyers want the same upgrades for the Model Y’s crossover sibling and are holding off on buying until Musk and co. deliver on that wish.

Also, the Cybertruck's potential is limited by regional access, and the Model X and Model S have long since grown, which has also meant Tesla has been able to lower prices substantially. Speaking of the big sedan that started it all, the hype around the Plaid has also faded, it's now “less powerful” than a Corvette, for example, we really are living in the golden age of horsepower.

Speaking of the Tesla Model S Plaid, the parallel universes of vehicular CGI have noticed that it is in a difficult situation and have tasked the imaginative realm of automotive digital content creators to come up with a digital solution. So, Evrim OzgunA Turkish virtual car designer, has decided to let us know more about the 2025 Tesla Model S Plaid, even if only in the world of fantasy.

The pixel maestro decided to completely update the big electric sedan from the ground up. While the CGI expert maintains the overall appeal of the five-door liftback sedan, there are new headlights and taillights, a sporty widebody aero kit, new wheels and even a ducktail spoiler at the back. The air intakes are now huge and the rear diffuser looks like it came from a race car, just in case you missed it.

Of course, take all of these illustrations with a grain of salt, as there's nothing official from Tesla yet, and since the company doesn't even appear to be keen to accelerate the Model Y's “Juniper” update, we'll likely have to wait a long time before anything new arrives for the Model S.
