Shelby GT500, Stingray, Widebody Mopar Drag Motorcycles, Someone Gets Seriously Massacred

Some people like bikes better than cars, others think that four wheels are always better (or at least safer) than two. If you're not ready to dabble in the middle, here's a nice series of definitive races between cars and motorcycles.

If you ask me, now that I'm in my forties and trying to lead (when my lady lets me) a family with two kids, I'm too scared to start driving school all over again to get my motorcycle license. However, when I was in my twenties, all I could dream of were wheelies on supersport bikes and open road rides on choppers.

Luckily, I didn’t have the financial need to buy any of these motorcycles; otherwise, I think my accident record would have gone from zero to infinity. However, I recently decided to try a middle ground: my license is easily upgradeable to a particular class of motorcycle (scooters under 125cc and with no more than 15 hp). I think one of those, with an automatic transmission, would be perfect for my ultra-busy hometown on sunny days.

However, when I came across this car vs. bike compilation, I immediately looked at my desire in a different light. Fortunately, I don't live near the Strip at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Otherwise, those awesome bikes would have found an amateur rider in a few months. As such, though, I tried to root for the four-wheeled models on display because it's an incredibly cool group.

So, the videographer behind the Wheels YouTube channel is a big fan of The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and recently put together a classic bikes vs. cars compilation, starting with an iconic Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 S550 dressed to impress in dark blue with gray and crimson accents. I didn't recognize the black motorcycle in the other lane, but I'm no expert.

After the traditional burnout, we expected a lot of action from this brawl, but we were left empty-handed as the Shelby driver completely botched the start (he was still reversing when the light came on) and shamed himself, as well as the entire Blue Oval community, with an abysmal pass of 14.04 seconds at just 92 mph. Meanwhile, the bike and rider were doing their job: 10.79 seconds at 151 mph!

The second skirmish was between a Suzuki and a purple Chevy Corvette Stingray C8. This driver didn’t shame the GM fans, thankfully, but he couldn’t resist the Suzuki’s top-end (and thunderous) acceleration: 11.96 seconds versus 12.61 seconds. Close, but not close enough. Now, they say third time’s the charm. Well, here we are.

The third brawl was definitely the most interesting one so far: a widebody Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat lined up to brawl with a helicopter! They were both breathtaking sights to behold, that's for sure, especially since the bike started with a huge wheelie! In the end, though, the Mopar monster was quicker: 12.29 seconds at 118 mph versus 13.47 seconds at just 98 mph.

Of course, this wouldn't be complete without a Electric vehicle join the party, right? So, a crimson Tesla Model S Plaid took on a specially tuned long-wheelbase BMW superbike. It wasn't a race per se, but rather an absolute ICE destruction between bikes and electric cars, with BMW launching like a fighter jet strapped to a catapult and taking victory with a time of 9.5 seconds to 10.34 seconds.
