Samsung’s super budget Galaxy A0 series has entered its sixth generation with the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy A06. The new budget smartphone was launched in Vietnam today and will undoubtedly reach more manufacturers in the coming days or weeks. The latest smartphone is an all-rounder for users who want some basic app usage, web browsing and multimedia consumption. It also shows how budget smartphones have evolved with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of Storage.
Samsung Galaxy A06 Features and Key Features
The Samsung Galaxy A06 brings the MediaTek Helio G85 SoC under the hood. The chipset is old at this point, with a 12nm manufacturing process and 2 x ARM Cortex-A75 cores for performance. Anyway, the focus here is to offer the essentials at a super attractive price. Despite its age, the Helio G85 should still provide decent performance for basic apps, social media, web browsing, multimedia, and even gaming, as long as there are basic games. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM or 6GB of RAM, depending on the variant. These come with 64GB or 128GB, respectively. The phone also has a microSD card slot for further storage expansion.
Gizchina News of the Week
The Samsung Galaxy A06 has a 50MP main camera and a secondary 2MP decorative sensor for depth reading. It comes with an 8MP shooter, good for selfies and video calls. It features a punch-hole cutout in the center of a 6.7-inch LCD display with HD+ resolution. The panel also offers a 90Hz refresh rate. While not the smoothest standard these days, it’s still a cutout ahead of the standard 60Hz display.
The Galaxy A06 comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery with 25W charging. Since this is Samsung and we all know they have a conservative approach to fast charging technology, 25W is great since this is a budget smartphone. The phone has a flat look with vertical lines on the back to give it a unique style that goes beyond the usual cheap plastic look. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Pricing and Availability
The company is promising two major Android updates for the Samsung Galaxy A06. Unfortunately, it’s being released at the end of Android 14’s lifecycle. The Android 15 update will count as the first major update, so it’s due next year with the Android 16 release. In Vietnam, the phone will go on sale on August 22 for VND3,190,000 ($127) for the 4GB/64GB variant or VND3,790,000 ($151) for the 6GB/128GB version. Until September 30, customers will get a free 25W charger.
