Samsung gave away a Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to all Paris 2024 athletes, and now the company has revealed one of the most-used features by participants and fans alike.
The new foldable smartphone “creates and fosters meaningful communication” between athletes through the Interpreter feature, Samsung announced today. The feature allows two people to speak in real time in their own language, and the phone will automatically translate and even visualize the words on its dual screens.

Samsung Galaxy Team members Wilma Anna Helena Murto of Finland (athletics) and Alessandro Mazzara of Italy (skateboarding) said the feature makes a difference, especially for people who often travel to different parts of the world.
Samsung also set up a demo store at 125 Champs-Elysées and Square Marigny, where everyone was able to test the new foldables in hand. Visitors called the Interpreter feature “handy” and “useful,” while a Samsung representative pointed out that the entire process takes place on the device, without the need for an internet connection.

Volunteers are also a key part of the Olympics, and Emmanuel Mantilla Jr. of the Philippines pointed out that they don't even speak French, but the Interpreter app on their Galaxy S24 Ultra has been a big help in communicating with their fellow volunteers.
Samsung's involvement in the Olympics was exceptional. The company provided more than 200 smartphones to live stream the athletes' parade. These devices, all Galaxy S24 Ultra, were then used to broadcast the sailing competition.
The Flip6 played a major role at the awards ceremonies in Paris, including a viral and heartwarming moment when athletes from North Korea, South Korea and China took a selfie together, which many called a “true Olympic moment” of unity.
