It's a sleek-looking proposition that would likely give the Tesla Model 3 a run for its money, and while the current CLA is a bit smaller, the new electric one will likely be a bit larger. Its overall size and battery-electric nature will inevitably pit it against the likes of the Tesla Model 3.
It is said that the A-Class and B-Class will disappear forever, but the CLA Coupé (four-door sedan) and the CLA Shooting Brake (five-door estate) will live on. Both will switch to the MMA construction, which can accommodate Electric vehicle AND ICE powertrains. We expect the zero-emission CLA to launch with an 800-volt architecture, but that’s just our two cents.
Now, while the A-Class has no future and will be around until 2026, it was this model that became the digital focal point of the camera. Q Cars recently took to YouTube to post some sketches of the hypothetical 2026 Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which isn't half bad, at least visually.

It manages to retain the company's EQ-inspired design with the three-pointed star front and center, although unlike other EQ models, this one looks good. It has a thin strip of lights under the hood, slim headlights lower down and on either side of the grille that lacks the company logo, and a large air intake in the new sporty bumper. The roofline is arched, although not as much as the CLA's, and the rear looks even better than the front of the car.
Here, the pixel manipulator has given the supposed next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class EV modern taillights that extend from one rear panel to the other, taking up a good portion of the trunk lid. The rear bumper has a recess for the license plate, and further down we can see a sporty diffuser. The car also gets side skirts, flush-mounted door handles, a shark fin antenna on the roof, and what appear to be frameless side windows. The black multi-spoke alloy wheels look right at home, as does the bluish paint finish.
With a revised front fascia and further tweaks here and there, this model would be a great proposition in the EV class, especially if it could steer clear of the brand's notorious reliability and build issues. Since it would share its nuts and bolts with the upcoming CLA, it would also launch with ICE power, in addition to its all-electric nature, and the AMG models would continue to live, presumably in the 35 and 45 versions. It's a shame that the A-Class is disappearing.
