Ah yes, the eternal argument over which nicknames automakers should revive and use on new models. But while that's easier said than done, there's a certain crowd that will always support such moves, especially if they involve traditional cars rather than crossovers.
A concrete example is the latest unofficial interpretation of a classic model resurrected in the modern era, and that is none other than the Chevrolet Chevelle. Such a car would be a breath of fresh air in the crossover range of the bowtie brand, since in addition to the C8 Corvette and the Malibu, which will finally disappear later this year, its family includes only high-rider models.
If you’re like us, you probably have a favorite generation of the Chevy Chevelle. This writer thinks the second generation, which was assembled between 1967 and 1972 at multiple plants across the nation, as well as in Canada, Venezuela, South Africa, and Belgium, is the best looking. Offered in multiple body styles, it was related to the El Camino, Pontiac Tempest, Oldsmobile Cutlass, and others of the era and featured straight-six and V8 power.
Needless to say, we’re not the only ones who think the second-gen Chevrolet Chevelle is the coolest one ever made, as it looks like at least one rendering artist thinks the same. We’re talking about Nitro Nation on YouTube, who recently shared some digital art of a hypothetical modern Chevy Chevelle SS, and it looks like it was inspired by the second-gen.

It looks mostly like a classic car, or a restomod if you prefer, but it would be all new under the skin and inside, where it would hide a modern chassis, brakes, suspension, engine and so on. This CGI model is a real muscle car with thick fenders, dual headlights, a decent-sized grille, a large air intake in the bumper, a muscular hood, extra-thick C-pillars and long doors to improve ingress and egress, especially for those sitting in the cramped back seat.
But while the front looks like a muscle car, the rear looks inspired by old Corvettes. It features an arched roof that flows into the rear window and trunk lid, dual taillights on each rear corner, and a large exhaust tip, along with curved rear quarter panels.
Overall, this 2025 Chevrolet Chevelle SS virtual project is an interesting proposition and would be a great addition to the company’s family, especially since they no longer offer a muscle car. The last Camaro came out in late 2023, and there’s no telling what the future holds for this moniker. Perhaps it would be a great time for Chevy to consider launching a new Chevelle muscle car that would take a stab at Dodge’s new Charger and the Ford Mustang S650. But do you like this design?
