Red Magic Titan 16 Pro review

Red Magic expanded its ecosystem today with what seems like a very natural addition: a gaming laptop called the Red Magic Titan 16 Pro. It debuted in China back in July, but it's finally going international, and we've got one with us for a review.

This is a powerful laptop with an Intel Core i9 processor and an Nvidia GPU. Ours was equipped with the RTX4060, but an RTX4070 version is also available. The laptop has an over-engineered gaming aesthetic similar to the Red Magic smartphones and a bunch of other gaming laptops.

The Titan is quite heavy by modern standards with its 2.4kg body and 23.9mm thickness. Of course, that's to be expected when you want anywhere near the cooling needed for a smooth gaming session, but it's not the easiest thing to lug around.

The proprietary two-part charger needed to provide enough power to the GPU and CPU at full throttle alone weighs about as much as some of the ultraportables we've reviewed recently.

Specs-wise, our unit comes with 32GB of DDR5 RAM, made by Samsung, while the SSD is 1TB with a read speed of 7,000MB/s; there’s also a PCIe 4.0 M.2 expansion slot to add a second SSD. There are also two large fans running at 3,850RPM, dual speakers, and support for 100W PD fast charging.

There's a full-size HDMI port, three USB-A ports on three different sides, a standard USB-C, and a Thunderbolt 4 USB-C.

The Red Magic Titan 16 Pro comes with an RGB backlit keyboard, because of course it does. The Red Magic logo on the cover also lights up in different colors, leaving no doubt that this is indeed a gaming laptop.

The Red Magic Titan 16 Pro features a 16″ 2.5K display with a 240Hz refresh rate, which is quite demanding, but we'll see how the GPU handles it in our full review.

We'll be back with a verdict in a few weeks – stay tuned!
