Realme confirms 300W charging launch date

After the first teaser, Realme has set a date for the launch of its 300W wired charging technology. The company will unveil the technology on August 14 at a dedicated event in China.

The “technological breakthrough” will be the next step, after the introduction of 240W tariffs introduced in February 2023, but it is unlikely that we will see it implemented in a phone at this stage.

Xiaomi's Redmi announced similar technology capable of charging a smartphone from 0 to 100% in under five minutes, but nearly 18 months after its unveiling, we have yet to see it in a commercially available device.

Currently, Realme holds the record for the fastest charging on a commercial smartphone – the GT Neo 5 was launched in China with 240W fast charging and was later introduced to international markets as the Realme GT3. The company promised to go from 0 to 100% in less than 10 minutes, and our real-world tests weren't far off – from 1 to 100% in 11 minutes and 16 seconds.

Realme's announcement next week comes at a good time for the 828 Realme Fan Festival (8.28 as in August 28, 2018, when Realme launched its first smartphone as an independent brand).
