After a long wait, POCO has officially announced the launch of its first tablet in India, the POCO Pad 5G. Scheduled to launch on August 23 at noon, this exciting news was confirmed by Himanshu Tandon, Country Head, POCO India. He enthusiastically described the upcoming tablet as a “best friend”, highlighting its versatility.

According to Himanshu, the POCO Pad 5G will be an ideal device for a variety of tasks, such as binge-watching your favorite series, unleashing your creativity, or simply engaging in your daily productivity. The teaser hints at the tablet supporting both a stylus and a keyboard, suggesting that it is designed to enhance both entertainment and work-related activities.
The POCO Pad made its global debut in May. It features a 12.1-inch 2.5K display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM, providing solid performance. The tablet also boasts of quad speakers for immersive audio and a powerful 10,000mAh battery, complemented by 33W fast charging support.

Interestingly, the POCO Pad shares many similarities with the Redmi Pad Pro that hit the Indian market a few weeks ago. However, the POCO Pad is expected to be more budget-friendly compared to the Redmi Pad Pro. For now, it is unclear whether POCO will introduce both Wi-Fi and 5G variants in India as the teaser image only highlights the POCO Pad 5G. We will have to wait for more details to see how the lineup pans out.
