Oppo F27 5G quietly arrives with IP64 rating, long-lasting battery and light ring

Back in June, Oppo launched the rugged F27 Pro+, a phone with an IP69K rating and MIL-STD-810H compliance, priced at ₹28,000 for the base 8/128GB model. Now, the company is introducing a cheaper and less rugged phone, the Oppo F27 5G, which costs ₹23,000 for an 8/128GB phone.

The Oppo F27 5G is rated IP64: dustproof but with basic water resistance (no submersion and certainly no water jets like on the Pro+). The 6.67-inch OLED display (FHD+, 120Hz) can work with wet fingers and has a maximum brightness of 2,100 nits for outdoor visibility. And note that this is a flat screen, unlike the curved screen on the Pro+.

The F27 features an “armored body,” which includes a high-strength alloy frame and tempered glass (no branding was mentioned, though). The phone weighs 187g and measures 7.69mm or 7.76mm, depending on the colorway you choose (Emerald Green and Amber Orange, respectively).

While it's not exactly a camera-focused phone, the F27 does have one interesting feature: there's a light ring surrounding the circular camera island. There's just a 50MP camera and a 2MP depth sensor, along with a regular LED flash. The selfie camera is a punch-hole in the display and has a 32MP sensor.

Oppo doesn't name the chipset, but reports point to the Dimensity 6300. This is an entry-level 5G chipset and is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. It runs Android 14 with ColorOS out of the box.

One interesting connectivity feature is BeaconLink, which we also saw on the Reno12 series. In short, it uses Bluetooth to create a local voice connection similar to that of a walkie-talkie. The effective range is around 200m/650ft.

Regardless, the F27 comes with AI Studio, which lets you “reimagine” your portraits in a variety of styles from realistic to cartoonish. Additionally, AI Eraser 2.0 can remove people who have entered the frame, and you can create stickers to use on social media with AI Smart Image Matting 2.0, which quickly but accurately cuts out people and pets from photos. Other AI features include AI Recording Summary (which transcribes and summarizes voice recordings) and AI Toolkit, which has a summary function for web pages, a redactor that can help you energize your messages, and AI Speak, a high-quality text-to-speech system.

The last interesting element is the 5,000mAh battery, which promises to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 4 years of daily charging. It supports 45W SuperVOOC charging, which reaches 100% in 71 minutes. If you're in a hurry, 10 minutes of charging is enough for 5 hours of video playback.

The Oppo F27 5G is already available on Oppo's online store in India, with the 8/128GB model costing ₹23,000 ($275/€250). There's also an 8/256GB model for ₹25,000. Note that some credit cards may get a 10% discount, check the Oppo store for more details. Additionally, the F27 5G is available on Amazon, Flipkart, and other retailers.
