The OnePlus Nord 4 brought back the metal rear construction, something that had been missing from the smartphone world for a few years now. That certainly makes it stand out in a sea of devices with glass and plastic backs, but it turns out it also makes it stand out in another way: its very poor repairability.
This is the conclusion we can come to after watching the teardown video below, which shows how difficult it is to repair the Nord 4. Due to the metal back, it is very difficult to access the phone. Even going through the glass top part results in damage to the case.
Removing the metal is the hardest part of any repair. After that, things get easier. Ultimately, the Nord 4 gets a repairability score of 4 out of 10, where 10 is most repairable and 0 is least repairable.
OnePlus Nord 4
The display is the most difficult to replace, receiving a score of 0.5/2, which is the same score as the internal design and organization. Parts availability, ease of battery replacement, and ease of replacing other miscellaneous parts each get a score of 1/2, and so we've reached 4 out of a possible 10.
