The Pixel 9 series has expanded with four new devices, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, a significant upgrade over the first-generation Pixel Fold. This new model stands out with its improved design, making it both taller and thinner. The square shape of the 9 Pro Fold is 15.5mm taller than its predecessor, even beating Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 in terms of height.
Pixel 9 Pro Fold: Bigger Displays, Sleeker Design, and Top-Notch Hinge
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is 10.5mm thick when folded and just 5.1mm thick when unfolded. It also weighs 257 grams, making it more comfortable to hold. A key design improvement is the hinge, which now folds completely flat—a feature not found on the first-generation model. It also has an IPX8 water resistance, which adds to its durability.
The new dimensions of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold allow for larger displays. The device has a 6.3-inch cover display and an 8-inch foldable display, both OLED panels with FHD+ resolution. These displays support adaptive 120Hz refresh rates and provide up to 2,700 nits of peak brightness. Both displays feature 10MP selfie cameras.

Renewed Pixel 9 Pro Fold Offers Bigger Screen and Less Weight
Under the hood, the 9 Pro Fold is powered by Google’s new Tensor G4 chipset built on Samsung’s 4nm process. This processor includes one Cortex-X4 core at 3.1GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.95GHz. The device packs up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with Android 14 and new AI features like Gemini Nano on-device, an improved Magic Editor, and the Add Me function to add people to photos. It also guarantees seven years of software updates. The device comes with a 4,650mAh battery that Google claims will last for 24 hours of normal usage with wired charging capped at 21W.
The Fold is available in Porcelain and Obsidian. It costs $1,799/€1,899/£1,749 for the 256GB version and $1,919/€2,029/£1,869 for the 512GB model. Google is offering free storage upgrades for orders placed by September 5, with deliveries starting on September 4.
