The battle between MediaTek and Qualcomm in the premium mobile chipset space will be more interesting than ever later this year when the former's Dimensity 9400 and the latter's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 launch.
Now, a new rumor from Digital Chat Station on Weibo sheds some light on what we can expect from the Dimensity 9400, and it's good news. Apparently, its single-core processor performance will be about 30% better than the Dimensity 9300 that launched last year, which, admittedly, was no slouch either.
The big core would only need 30% of the power consumption of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor to accomplish the same tasks, as power efficiency has also been significantly improved. The Dimensity 9400 is 35% more efficient than its predecessor.
Overall, it looks like this is shaping up to be a win for MediaTek, and will certainly allow it to continue to compete with Qualcomm at the high end of the market.
