The Trans Am went on a crazy rollercoaster ride in the early 1980s production-wise, and after a slump in 1983, the Firebird series managed to bounce back a year later. However, the 1985 model saw another decline, but the Trans Am continued to bring home the bacon, accounting for nearly 1 in 2 Firebirds sold.

The Trans Am could be purchased in 1985 with a choice of three engines. The first of the lineup was the 305, which was equipped with a carburetor and produced 165 horsepower. The second was a variation of the same engine but, thanks to the High-Hole treatment, produced 190 horsepower.

The top choice this year was a V8 with optimized electronic fuel injection that developed 205 horsepower.

A 1985 Pontiac Trans Am found its way onto eBay not long ago for a reason that many, especially die-hard Pontiac fans, will find impossible to believe.

eBay seller thopa1014 says he received this Trans Am from his family, but while the car is in great condition, he says he “neither wants nor needs it.” The Trans Am needs a new home, and this is probably the best option, considering the vehicle is still in great condition and requires proper maintenance.

The owner says the vehicle has spent the last few years in storage under a cover. It was garaged in 2015, but considering it hasn't been off the road for very long, the Trans Am still looks great. The owner isn't sharing many details, but photos suggest the Trans Am would need nothing more than a little TLC to get back on the road.

The owner says he installed a new battery and that the 5.0-liter started right away, but to get a full picture of the car, you'll need to inspect everything under the hood.

It's unclear whether this Trans Am has ever been restored or is still completely original, so your best bet is to inspect it in person before committing to a purchase. The fact that the owner says he no longer needs the car is a sign that the Trans Am deserves a better home where it can get some TLC back to pristine condition.

The owner claims the car has a virtually flawless interior, with clean seats and no tears, but considering he didn't share any photos, you'll have to inspect the cabin in person.

The asking price makes sense for a daily driver, as the owner is expecting to get $8,500 for the car. They also enabled a Make Offer button, so if you want this Trans Am, you should contact them to discuss all the details. The Trans Am is parked in Columbia, Tennessee, and should be able to drive anywhere on its wheels.
