LG remains the main supplier of telephoto sensors for the iPhone 16 Pro series

LG Innotek will provide the entire initial supply of telephoto sensors for the iPhone 16 Pro phones.

According to a report by media outlet The Elec, the Korean component maker has received the full order for the first batch of folded zoom modules and will also supply the OIS actuator in partnership with Jahwa Electronics.

The first order of telephoto sensors for the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max accounts for “well over half,” and some reports say that this amount represents around 70% of all expected sales. The remainder of the sensors will be manufactured in the fourth quarter of 2024 by Foxconn and Cowell, as Apple attempts to reduce the average cost.

Last year, LG Innotek was the sole module supplier for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. Sharp was expected to join the fray this year, but the Japanese company pulled out, the report adds. This year, both the Pro and Pro Max models will get the Tetraprism camera, which features a 5x optical zoom.
