The Italian automaker is banking on the American car market, in fact: it's one of its biggest sales regions, which is why the official unveiling of the next Lamborghini Huracan successor, rumored to be titled “Temerario,” will take place on August 16 at the 2024 Monterey Car Week. America is also where many of its new Revuelto V12-powered models will be unveiled. Hybrid electric vehicle The flagships will go, together with the new 789 hp super-charged plug-in hybrid Lambo Urus SEOff-road.
But we haven't heard anything about Lamborghini expanding its model range with a Urus-based station wagon, let alone a Woodie-style one! Fear not, the bosses at the corner office in Sant'Agata Bolognese haven't gone mad. This time, it's a creation from the parallel universes of vehicular CGI, where the imaginary realm of car digital content creators sometimes goes completely nuts in the land of fantasy.
A good case could be made with this “Lamborghini Panel Wagon” design project imagined by Jim, a virtual artist known as jlord8 on social media, who loves to mess around with all things CGI from the automotive world. With a classic “no one will know when I win the lottery, but there will be signs” mentality, his latest digital creation is clearly in line with the rest of his recent design projects, despite the donor vehicle being thoroughly modern.
It seems that lately the pixel master has abandoned contemporary creations in favor of extravagant old-school ideas, hence the Chevy Corsica Z26 Sports Wagon, the GMT400 GMC Yukon Grand Sport, the Chrysler LeBaron Speedster or the Cadillac Eldorado-V. Now there is also this Lamborghini Urus 'Panel Wagon' that is dressed in modern woodie style and also has much more trunk space than the real super-SUV, as if it were looking for the iconic Oregon Trail.
So, do you think it would sell if Lamborghini offered such a derivative? As a reminder, the Italian automaker has bigger fish to fry when it comes to the Urus super-SUV, as it is not only focused on introducing the 888+ horsepower Lambo Temerario PHEV, but also on the commercial launch of the Urus SE plug-in hybrid. The latter features a mild facelift and a new PHEV system that churns out a combined 789 horsepower – it’s also a heavy beast as the super-SUV is around 300 kg (661 lb) heavier than an Urus S. Despite all that, it’s quicker in the classic zero-to-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint and also has a lower carbon footprint (-80%) according to the Italian brand.
