The seventh-generation Ford Mustang S650 began deliveries last summer, and after the first six months of the year, it’s already the most popular two-door RWD sports car in the U.S. auto market. That’s not exactly surprising, since sales aren’t all that great: 27,444 units in the first half of 2024 compared to 25,471 in the first half of 2023, an increase of 7.7%.
Sports cars are slowly but surely becoming the next endangered species in the passenger car industry as the hype surrounding crossovers, SUVs, and trucks is like a flame that engulfs all other automotive sectors and slowly robs them of precious oxygen. In any case, the Mustang, even one of the last V8 Mohicans, towers over its defunct sixth-generation rivals the L-body Chevy Camaro and Dodge Challenger, as well as other niche products like the C8 Corvette and GR Supra, among others.
It will soon be a battle of concepts, as the C8 had its best H1 since 2015 with 17,914 examples, and we could see the front-engine RWD Mustang unwittingly clash with the mid-engine RWD Mustang or All-wheel drive Corvette for two-door supremacy in America. Until then, it’s safe to say that MSRPs can easily dictate a customer’s thoughts: a 480-hp 2025 Ford Mustang GT Fastback starts at $45,460, while the 490-hp Chevy Corvette Stingray costs at least $68,300.
However, some people choose the Ford Mustang GT even if they have enough money to buy a Stingray: they simply spend the difference on tasty spare parts. A good example was brought to our attention recently by Vossen, who showed off a red Ford Mustang GT adorned with some decent upgrades on their social media channels.
Starting from the front, we can easily notice the illuminated RTR grille with LED vents (also includes the honeycomb pattern for the lower grille) that costs $799.99 at the time of writing thanks to a $59.99 discount from the regular price, and the Race Red painted Mustang GT ($295) also gets a very subtle carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit with a low splitter, side panels, and a tasty trunk lid spoiler. But wait, that's not all.
The reason Vossen has unveiled this awesome Ford Mustang GT is simple: it's dressed in their “running shoes.” All in all, we think the iconic pony car looks stunning, basking in the summer sun with its red hue contrasted by the black add-ons and aftermarket Y-spoke wheels. What do you think? Do you agree with our assessment?
