Huawei is gearing up to announce its first tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT, on September 10. The teaser campaign for the device is in full swing. The latest news is a short teaser video that gives us a glimpse of the Mate XT's design.
The video is directed by actor, singer-songwriter, and film producer Andy Lau, who has been named Huawei's Ultimate Design brand ambassador. The Mate XT features a vegan leather back with an octagonal-shaped camera island that's not too dissimilar to the Mate 60 RS Ultimate.
A close-up of the Mate XT's rear reveals that it will feature four cameras, including a periscope module, but we don't have any details on the sensors yet. The device is briefly shown in a final part of the video in its unfolded form, emphasizing its remarkably slim profile.
According to the latest rumors, the Mate XT will feature a 10-inch foldable display, a 5G-capable Kirin chipset, and up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Speculations suggest that the tri-fold smartphone will cost between CNY 16,000 and CNY 17,000, which translates to $2,250 to $2,400.
