HMD becomes the official smartphone partner of FC Barcelona

HMD has just announced that it has become the official smartphone partner of FC Barcelona. The company will support the men's club and the women's team Barcelona Femeni.

The announcement also revealed that teams from other sports will be involved in the partnership, including basketball, futsal, handball and roller hockey.

The partnership was unveiled by Saul Peregrina, the hairdresser of Lamine Yamal, the 17-year-old prodigy and future star player of the Catalan team. The hairdresser cut out the HMD logo next to the FC Barcelona crest, officially announcing the partnership.

The deal initially runs for three years and HMD will advertise its smartphones on digital billboards at the Olympic Stadium, where FC Barcelona currently plays. Once the team moves to its renovated Camp Nou stadium, the ads will appear there as well.

Later, the partnership will extend to “a number of digital content to excite fans and maintain high levels of partnership visibility,” the official press release reads.

Before HMD, FC Barcelona had another smartphone partner: Oppo. There were several FC Barcelona-branded Oppo phones, including the F1 Plus and the Reno 10x Zoom, but recently, the Chinese smartphone maker partnered with UEFA to promote its devices during the Champions League tournament.
