Google unveils Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Pro XL and 9 Pro Fold, week 33 in review

Google moved up its Pixel event by two months and unveiled its biggest Pixel lineup yet: four. The highly anticipated Pixel 9 arrived with a 6.3-inch 120Hz OLED display, a slim body, the new Tensor G4 chipset, and an improved ultra-wide-angle camera.

For the first time, Google has created a smaller Pro phone with the Pixel 9 Pro: the same 6.3-inch screen diagonal, but with a larger LTPO panel, a better selfie camera, and a periscope zoom lens. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is the usual large flagship, but it has received an XL added to its name and a 0.1-inch increase in screen real estate. It shares the Tensor G4 and camera system with the smaller Pixel 9 Pro.

Finally, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold features a redesigned, thinner body, larger displays, and an updated hinge.

The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro XL will ship in late August, while the Pixel 9 Pro and 9 Pro Fold will follow in September.

Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 3, which comes in two sizes for the first time: the usual 41mm and a new 45mm. It features the same Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 SoC as the wearables and the same collection of sensors such as heart rate monitor, ECG measurements, SpO2, skin thermometer, and GPS. New is the UWB chip.
