Google today announced that it’s rolling out Gmail Q&A to Android. It’s a “new way to search your inbox with Gemini.” It’s exactly what the name says: you can ask Gemini questions about your inbox, right in Gmail for Android.
You can ask it any questions you have about your emails. This feature was previously available in Gemini in Gmail on the web via the side panel. Gmail Q&A for Android works the same way, but on your phone. This feature will also be coming to iOS, “soon.”
In addition to asking Gemini questions, you can also have it do things like search for specific details in your emails, show you unread emails, only show emails from a specific sender, or summarize emails on a specific topic.
To open Gemini in the Gmail app on Android, tap the black Gemini star in the top right or tap the “Summarize this email” bullet. The rollout is expected to take 15 days for everyone to get it. Note that you must have Google One AI Premium or subscribe to Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, or Education Premium to access this feature.
