Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 cancels twice as much noise thanks to the Tensor A1 chip

At its big event today, Google unveiled the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 3, and finally, the Pixel Buds Pro 2. These are (quite obviously) the successors to 2022's Pixel Buds Pro, and Google is promising plenty of improvements.

First off, the new earbuds feature Google's Tensor A1 chip, which delivers “powerful performance.” So powerful, in fact, that you can expect these earbuds to cancel twice as much noise as the original Pixel Buds Pro in the mid-range (400Hz-2kHz). Plus, the ANC adapts to your environment three million times per second.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 promise to be comfortable to wear all day, as they were apparently designed using 45 million data points from different ears. They feature 11mm drivers and support spatial audio with head tracking. They can also use Gemini via the Gemini mobile app.

Google says its new earbuds use beamforming mics, windproof mesh covers, and Google AI to make calls clearer. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Google's new Find My Device network. When you lose the earbuds or the case, they'll ring to help you find them. The earbuds also support multipoint connectivity.

The Pixel Buds app supports the five-band custom EQ and provides software updates for your earbuds. Google promises up to 8 hours of listening time with ANC on (12 hours with ANC off) and up to 30 hours with the case and ANC on (48 hours with ANC off). Speaking of the case, it supports wireless charging.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are now available for pre-order on the Google Store in Porcelain, Hazel, Wintergreen, and Peony colors for $229 / £219 / €249. They will start shipping on September 26.
