Google Meet is rolling out a new AI tool called “take notes for me” designed to automatically summarize key points during video calls. Instead of creating a word-for-word transcription, the feature uses Google’s Gemini AI to capture key discussion highlights in a Google Doc. The doc is saved to the host’s Google Drive and can be shared with attendees or added to a calendar event after the meeting. If enabled, the doc also includes links to the meeting recording and full transcript.
Available to Select Google Workspace Customers
Initially, the feature will be available to Google Workspace customers with Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, and AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons. Currently, the tool only supports English-language meetings held on computers or laptops.
The Spread of AI Across Google Services
Google has been aggressively integrating AI into its products and services, following its announcement last year to bring generative AI capabilities to more of its products. Its Gemini AI assistant is not only integrating into Google Meet, but also Android and other Workspace apps.
Google is working hard to make their products smarter. To do this, they use AI or artificial intelligence. Google is embedding AI in Google Meet, Android, and other apps.
Gizchina News of the Week
AI can help you do things faster and easier. However, AI can sometimes make mistakes. It can give you wrong or nonsensical answers. This is because AI is still learning.
While AI is not perfect yet, Google is working to make it better. They want AI to be more useful and easier to use. Google believes AI can make a big difference in how we use technology.
We may see more AI in Google products in the future. This could make our lives easier and more enjoyable.
But the effectiveness of these features will depend on the accuracy and reliability of the AI. While Google’s AI advances are promising, they are not without their challenges, as highlighted by past incidents where the AI made incorrect or absurd recommendations. Despite these concerns, Google continues to push forward with the goal of making its AI tools more useful and widely available across its ecosystem.
Solution
Google Meet’s new AI tool, “take notes for me,” offers a handy way to capture important meeting points. Leveraging Gemini AI, this feature provides a more concise summary than traditional transcriptions. While initially available to select Google Workspace customers, Google plans to expand the feature to more users and languages in the future. As AI continues to evolve, Google’s commitment to integrating it into its products will likely shape the future of productivity tools.
