Google Maps offline support rolling out to Wear OS watches

Google unveiled the Pixel Watch 3 with offline support for Google Maps a few days ago, which is now rolling out to other smartwatches running Wear OS.

Google Maps Offline allows users to navigate with their smartwatch even when it doesn't have an active internet connection or is connected to a smartphone with an internet connection.

This feature is available with Google Maps beta 11.140.0701.W for Wear OS on the Pixel Watch 2 and is expected to roll out to other Wear OS watches soon.

Once you update Google Maps to beta version 11.140.0701.W, you'll see a new “Offline Maps” page above the “Settings” option. The watch app will also automatically download a map of your area while syncing other offline areas from your connected smartphone.

Additionally, it syncs offline maps when the smartwatch is connected to Wi-Fi and charging and displays a cloud of crossed-out icons next to the time on the map when you're offline.
