Apple is moving forward with its desktop device with an iPad-like screen, cameras and robotic arms, reports Mark Gurman.
It will be a top-of-the-line product and will solve problems you may not even know you have. One of the use cases Apple has come up with is having a device close by so you don't have to make the long trek to your bedroom or home office just to get your device (who does something like that?) or to check on something in your home while away from home, as it is designed to be a sort of smart home command center and remote security tool.
Thanks to its robotic limbs and swivel function, the iPad-like device is ideal for online meetings or trying out recipes in the kitchen.
The device could be the perfect platform to capitalize on AI. Apple is reportedly working on a new AI-powered, human-like interface like Siri for the iPad-like device and possible future robotic devices.
Apple is both hopeful and skeptical about the project. Its attempt to enter the auto industry was a failure and the company has also struggled with AR glasses. Right now, a robotic device sounds like the next gadget it could sell to customers.
The device is expected to launch around 2026 or 2027 and is rumored to cost nearly $1,000.
