Facebook's new app icon for iOS may have looked good, but it was just a mistake

Apple iPhone users went crazy the other day when the Facebook app icon on iOS changed its color to black and blue. Admittedly, the color changes made the icon look better than the traditional blue and white tones the meta entity is known for. A report from Business Insider, hidden behind a paywall, reports that the new cool-looking Facebook icon was just a bug and a fix is already being rolled out to iPhone users.
According to Business Insider, the change in Facebook icon colors on iOS was caused by a technical issue that has since been resolved. Dave Arnold, Meta Communications Manager, said those who update the app on iOS will see the correct icon colors when they update the Facebook app. You can update the iOS version of the Facebook app by clicking this link in the App Store.
When Apple launches iOS 18 next month, iPhone users will be able to enable a dark mode for their home screen icons and even have them shaded in a wide range of colors. Facebook's traditional home screen icon has a blue background with a white logo. The bug caused the background to become black and the logo to become blue. I don't know about you, but I like this logo better than the traditional one. What about you?

If you iOS18 or iOS18.1 beta lets you give the Facebook app icon a new look by long-pressing the lock screen. In jiggle mode, tap the edit “pill” in the top-left corner, then tap Customize. A pop-up menu at the bottom of the display gives you the option to reset the icons to put them in dark mode, reset them to the traditional colors in light mode, have them automatically change from light to dark at sunset (and vice versa when the sun rises), or color the app icons on the home screen in different colors based on the two sliders at the bottom of the display.

If you want to reset the colors of the app icons on the Home screen to their original colors, tap the light icon at the bottom of the screen. If you do not want to install the app, iOS18 Beta, to get this feature now, just wait until the stable version of iOS18 will be released next month. When Apple unveils the new iPhone 16 series on September 9, it is expected to announce the date when the stable version will be released iOS18 update.
