The Stellantis-owned Citroen brand is edging closer to revealing the new C4. Expected to debut in October 2024 for the 2025 model year at the Paris Motor Show, the mid-cycle facelift sports a sleeker front end, complete with revised headlights.
Spied under their own power and being transported on a two-level truck, the lightly camouflaged prototypes also boast slightly different black plastic cladding on the lower doors. Citroen has also worked its magic at the rear, where modifications include a pair of resculpted taillights.
Pictured on Goodyear and Michelin tires, the poorly camouflaged prototypes feature horizontal taillight elements and high-mounted headlights, which are joined by slim daytime running lights lower down on the front bumper. Both the front and rear fascias are sure to receive Citroen’s updated badging.
The new logo can be seen on the revised steering wheel. Judging by the looks, we are getting very close to a squircle steering wheel on the C8-generation Corvette. Internally called the C41, this generation of the C4 is the third since 2004. The French automaker launched the C41 in June 2020 with a distinct coupe-Off-road an aspect that is also found in the facelift.
Still based on the Common Module Platform, the C4 shows few changes inside compared to the pre-facelift model. There are still plenty of easily scratched gloss black trim pieces, along with a landscape-oriented touchscreen and digital instrument cluster.

The only interior photo taken by carparazzi also reveals three-tone seats with premium-looking upholstery, physical controls for the air conditioning and heating system, as well as two USB charging ports just below the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) controls. All in all, it's fine for a compact crossover utility vehicle from a volume-oriented brand with premium ambitions, albeit not as lofty as the DS brand.
Under the hood, expect to find carryover powertrain choices. Internal combustion is represented primarily by the 1.2-liter turbocharged inline-three codenamed EB. Billed as the PureTech, the engine is joined by a 1.5-liter turbocharged diesel inline-four called the BlueHDi. Then there are the mild-hybrid turbocharged and diesel powerplants that Citroen misleadingly advertises as Hybrid despite hybrid suggesting an entirely different setup.
The 48-volt system includes a 21-kilowatts electric motor and a dual-clutch transmission with six forward gear ratios. The Hybrid 136 is the most powerful mild hybrid available for the 2024 model year, with 136 metric horsepower converted to 134 mechanical horsepower. Peak torque is 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) at 1,750 rpm. When needed, the small electric motor assists the internal combustion engine with 55 newton meters (about 41 lb-ft) of torque.
Finally, the surprisingly versatile C4 can also be a front-wheel drive electric vehicle. Battery size varies from 50 to 54 kilowatt hours, while power is rated at 100 kilowatts by default or 115 kilowatts by choice. Driving range? In WLTP ProcedureIn the combined test cycle, the 2024 Citroën e-C4 reaches 420 kilometers or 261 miles.
