Today, after months of developer testing and public betas, Android 15 is finally here. It’s ready, it’s stable, it’s out — but not for you. Or for us. Just for developers for now.
Google has uploaded the source code for Android 15 to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), but the updates aren't ready yet, not even for the Pixel. The September update that started rolling out today for Google's smartphones is still Android 14.
Android 15 will finally arrive on Pixels – including the just-launched Pixel 9 family – “in the coming weeks,” Google promises, while devices from Samsung, Honor, iQOO, Lenovo, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Sony, Tecno, vivo, and Xiaomi will get it “in the coming months.”
We've already heard that Android 15 won't be coming to Pixels until October, and Google seems to have confirmed that without saying it explicitly. In the meantime, developers can look at the AOSP code and do whatever they want with it.
