Hail and flood damage. It all seems like a no-brainer. But is it? An insurance company put this 2022 Dodge Charger Scat Pack up for auction, labeled it as a use-and-drive car, and is selling it for $20,000. It may seem cheap, but is it really worth the expense?
The hood looks like it took a beating for the team. It looks like it has suffered the most extensive hail damage. However, PDR (paintless dent repair) should be enough for the fender, roof and trunk lid.
But hail damage is actually the least of the problems. When Randy Shear of Auto Auction Builds opens the door, he realizes that the water level was pretty high on this flooded 2022 Dodge Charger R/T Scat Pack. It was all the way up to the dashboard, and there are still tufts of grass on the plastic. The interior smells terrible, to prove it.
The HEMI that powered it is probably not faring any better. The entire engine bay must be submerged in water. The hood still has evidence of aquatic growth. There is nothing corroded yet and the oil tank still has oil. This gives Randy hope, and he immediately switches from “There is no way this machine works” A “Maybe we really can save him.“
The insurance company is offering the two-year-old Dodge at a purchase-now price of $20,000, but the offer at the time the video was uploaded to YouTube was $4,600.

The sticker on the front window says “RD,” which means Randy should be getting a car that runs and drives. It's been sitting on the auction block for months, so it's definitely had time to dry out. Now that there's hope, he thinks the cabin doesn't smell so bad anymore.
But his hope is soon to be dashed. He tries to start the engine, but it is completely dead. The indicators light up and the trunk opens with the help of the remote key, but the windows do not work and neither do the electronics. The water level is also indicated by the signs in the trunk. The car was half under water.
Even if it ran and ran, Randy still wouldn't pay the “buy it now” price to take it home. But he'd drive the Dodge home for $4,000 or $4,500. Fixing it would eat up a lot of money!
The Dodge Charger Scat Pack is powered by a 392-cubic-inch (6.4-liter) HEMI V8 engine. The powerful, naturally aspirated HEMI pumps out 485 horsepower (492 metric horsepower) and 475 pound-feet (644 Newton meters) of torque. The muscle car goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, runs the quarter mile in 12.4 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h). In fact, all those verbs should be in the past tense. This car isn’t going anywhere unless it’s loaded on a trailer.
