Apple will unveil new iPhones, watches, and AirPods on September 9, and with about a week to go until the event, supplies of several of the company's products have run low.
In the new edition of his Turn on Newsletters, Bloomberg Journalist Mark Gurman has revealed that inventories of many Apple products are low in retail stores. Dwindling inventory is often a harbinger of things to come, although that's not necessarily always the case.
First off, Apple seems to be running out of the much-hated FineWoven cases and straps. Hopefully, this means the end of the cycle is near for the fabric option that has been touted as a high-quality and eco-friendly replacement for leather.
Apart from that, stock is also low on Apple Watch bands that are not made of FineWoven material, suggesting that new ones could be on the way. Apple Watch and AirPods stock is also depleted, which was to be expected since Apple is reportedly set to unveil the Apple Watch Series 10 and new AirPods during the upcoming event.
Apple retail stores are also experiencing low stock levels of various iPhone models. This includes not only the iPhones that will be discontinued following the announcement of the iPhone 16 series, but also the iPhone SE.
Normally, this would indicate an upcoming update, and since it's been more than two years since the iPhone SE 3 was announced, one might assume that the iPhone SE 4 will launch next week.
Unfortunately, this is unlikely, as Gurman reiterated that the cheap model will not be released until next year.
Another product that is quickly disappearing from stores is the iPad mini. Rumor has it that a new model is on the way, but it is not clear if it will be unveiled this month.
The iPad mini 7 is said to be a slight improvement over the current model, with a faster processor being the biggest highlight.
