8-core Snapdragon X Plus leaks ahead of IFA debut

Qualcomm's Snapdragon X-series chipsets come in two varieties: the X Plus lineup that features a 10-core Oryon processor, and the X Elite lineup that comes in 12-core configurations. A new leak from Evan Blass confirms key specifications of the 8-core X Plus version that will launch in the laptops announced at IFA in Berlin. It will be a slightly scaled-down version of the regular X Plus chip with an 8-core Oryon processor and will ship in CoPilot+ laptops starting at $800.

According to previous reports, the new chip will offer a single-core boost of 3.4 GHz and a multi-core boost of 3.2 GHz. In addition to the reduced CPU core count and clock speeds, the new X Plus chip will also feature a reduced Adreno GPU rated at 1.7 TFLOPS (down from 3.8 TFLOPS), LPDDR5X RAM with 30 MB of total cache (down from 42 MB on the X Plus), and support for three external monitors at UHD resolution and 60 Hz (down from 4K 120 Hz).

It will also retain the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS along with Always-Sensing ISP, Wi-Fi 7 and 5G support.
