While we don't know if Apple has already set September 10 as the final launch date for the iPhone 16 series, we're pretty confident that the new phones will have plenty of AI-powered features, even if that might not be the main reason for most buyers to upgrade.
With the iPhone16 Online mobile phone and tablet marketplace SellCell surveyed more than 2,000 iPhone owners in the US to find out how many plan to buy a 2024 model.
About 62 percent of participants said they would upgrade to the iPhone16For nearly a third of iOS users looking to upgrade, the decision will depend on the price of the new phone.

The second biggest factor (26.8 percent) is supposedly improved thermals, which is understandable since the latest Pro models tend to overheat. Artificial intelligence is third on the list (21.9 percent), followed by the new faster chip (21.5 percent) and larger screens for the Pro models (19.3 percent).
Around 55 percent of users said they prefer larger phones, while 33 percent said larger sizes than those currently offered would prevent them from buying a new iPhone. Almost 12 percent are hoping for a smaller phone and would rather wait for the rumored iPhone SE 4.
It seems that male users (62 percent) prefer larger Pro models than female buyers (48 percent). This may be because men have larger hands and a larger size generally also leads to heavier weight.
Rumors have suggested AI features might not be available at launch, but 82 percent of respondents said they wouldn't mind waiting a month.
Of the 38 percent of the 2000 survey participants who do not intend to iPhone16Thirty-four percent said they could not afford a new device, and an equal percentage said they were happy with their current phones.
While a sample size of 2000 may seem insufficient, it is large enough to produce statistically significant results. Based on this, it looks like the majority of iPhone users will be ready to upgrade in September.
